The secret to rice, particularly in a cooker? Rinse. Rinse. Rinse. Until the water runs clear. Then equal parts rice and water. Close the lid. Push the cook button. When the cooker beeps (about 20-25 minutes) fluff the rice with the included rice paddle. The cooker will automatically switch to the warm setting. When I cook rice I typically will use three cups of raw rice in order to have leftovers. My kids like rice with a little butter. But tonight, with a pantry growing thin and the temps at -18 I wanted to use what I had on hand. Steak and white rice seemed wrong - I try to get vegetables into their meals in one form or another.
- 1/2 Onion - minced
- 3 cloves garlic - minced
- 1 tlbs olive oil
- 1 tlbs homemade taco seasoning
- 1/2 cup crushed
- 2 cups rice - rinsed
- 2 cups water
