My recipe is inspired by our family's year spent in Singapore. Asian food eaten in an Asian setting is so very different from the typical Asian food found stateside.
We enjoy eating Chinese style, with chopsticks and communal dishes. This close setting brings our family together around the dinner table.
Is the fish a little strange looking to our American Midwestern sensibilities? Perhaps. But the sanitation of food to the point of unrecognizable from the origin is ridiculous.
It's not pork, it is a pig. It's not beef, it is a cow. It's not chicken it is ... oh yeah, well that one works.
This is a fish. Those lovely fillets that Americans purchase at the supermarket all began as a whole fish, just like the one pictured.
If this grosses you out, perhaps you should consider vegetarianism? Me, I like seeing the whole sourced food and how fresh my family meal will be.
