You know how it goes, there are always thousands of things to suck our attention and energy and never enough time to do it all.
I have been thinking about writing, taking notes for writing, reading about writing, dreaming about writing, and even producing some actual writing.
I have been posting on Medium. I have a few pieces published on Elephant Journal. I have work available on Amazon.
This summer, I have been studying in the apprentice program with Elephant Journal. We are learning about responsible social media, ethics in journalism, writing and editing, and slow journalism.
One aspect of the apprentice program is to intern at one of the many Elephant Journal Facebook pages. I am assigned to Elephant Recipes. Very apropos.
The page had posted an article, my article and recipe, from Elephant Journal, on vegan flour tortillas. Flour tortillas are traditionally made with lard, which is animal fat. I have revamped the recipe to be made with coconut oil, thereby turning the traditional recipe vegan.
This post garnered a troll, who sarcastically stated that tortillas are always vegan (corn tortillas are naturally vegan) and that next we would be posting articles on how to consume vegan water.
So, with my tongue firmly implanted in my cheek, I created this meme and posted it on the Facebook page. The troll gave this meme a reaction and a comment and has not been heard from again.
Writing, learning how to ethically promote writing, and how to nicely deal with negativity are some of the lessons I am learning this summer.
Back to being fully me.
