At 4 in the afternoon, the place had one other customer. The extremely friendly counter girl took my order, asking what type of cheese I preferred - though not the preferred meat temperature.
Then, as I filled my soda cup I heard the burger hit the sizzling hot griddle. Ahhhhhhhh - cooked to order. Great way to begin a review. After less than five minutes, my burger basket arrived but as you can see by the eclipsing bun, I was worried as to where my 1/2 pound burger was!
So flavorful without being greasy. This burger is now #1 in the Thursday Burger Challenge.
While the meal, burger-fries and a small soda rung in at pricey $10.70, you are paying for quality food.
Well, let me tell you how absolutely
a-fricking-mazing these french fries are!
Better than Beef-a-Roo and their special seasoning. Better than pommes frites on the left bank in Paris.
These are THE BEST FRENCH FRIES YOU WILL EVER EAT. Ever.
Yes, they are hand cut. But these are hand cut done right. I spoke with the owner and it did take some time and culinary experimentation to achieve this potato perfection. Crispy but not greasy. Full potato flavor, well salted. Cooked through. And I ate every single french fry served to me. Seriously, I would go in here just for the fries.
On the burger scale I give Brooklyn Deli a 5 stars out of 5!!
On the overall dining experience I give them a 4 stars out of 5. They have a decent menu with 7 cold sandwiches, 7 hot sandwiches, 4 wraps - including a veggie wrap, 4 salad choices and a create your sandwich own option. They have a children' s menu, ample parking, friendly staff and a clean bright dining room.
With a second location in Roscoe, I really, really recommend that you spend one of your meals this weekend at Brooklyn Deli. I would love to hear about your experience.
